However, the lost against Brentford made it the 8th time Arsenal have began their Premier league season with zero points since 1992 and one can only imagine the impact it will have on them going forward.

1- Arsenal 2 vs 4 Norwich City (1992-93)
On 15th August 1992 following the creation of the Premier league, Arsenal squared up against Norwich City at home.
However, despite taking a 2-0 lead at halftime, the Canaries scored four times with twenty minutes remaining to leave the Gunners stunned. Arsenal finished tenth in the League that season.

2- Arsenal 0 vs 3 Coventry City (1993-94)
For a second consecutive season, Arsenal had to endure defeat in their opening game as a brilliant Micky Quinn hat-trick handed Coventry City a comfortable win at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal finished in fourth position that season.

3- Sunderland 1 vs 0 Arsenal (2000-01)
Arsenal traveled to the Stadium of Light on 19th August 2000 and came away with nothing as Niall Quinn struck in the 53rd minute to give the home side all three points.
The Gunners went on to finish as runners up in the Premier League that campaign, ten points behind Champions Manchester United.

4- Arsenal 1 vs 3 Aston Villa (2013-14)
Christian Benteke scored a brace to inspire his side to a 3-1 opening Premier league win against a disappointing Gunners.

However, despite defeat on match day one, the Gunners managed to finish fourth that season.
5- Arsenal 0 vs 2 West Ham (2015-16)
An opening day defeat to West Ham didn't derail Arsenal from challenging for the title as they ended up in second position.

6- Arsenal 3 vs 4 Liverpool (2016-17)
Arsenal and Liverpool got off to an entertaining opening match at the Emirates as goals from Philip Coutinho, Lallana and Sadio Mane ensured that Arsenal's three strikes were merely a consolation.
At the end of the season, the Gunners could only manage a Europa League spot finishing a point outside the top four.

7- Arsenal 0 vs 2 Manchester City (2018-19)
Pep Guardiola made sure his side began brightly as goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva ensured Arsenal had another defeat on match day one.
Like in the 2016-17 season, the Gunners also finished a point outside the top four.
