Chelsea have 5 players in the nominations of the UEFA positional awards this year. Edouard Mendy, Jorginho, N’golo Kante, Azpilicueta and Rudiger. Some Chelsea players might win awards in their categories, but I think Jorginho is the favorite to win an award that No other Chelsea player has ever won.

Jorginho has had an amazing year so far. The Italian midfielder played a very key role in Chelsea’s UCL campaign last season. He also starred for Italy as the Azurris went on to win the Euro 2020 tournament.

Jorginho has also been considered as one of the favorites to win the Balon d’or this year, but first he could win an award that no Chelsea player has won before.

The award I am talking about is not the UEFA Team of the season awards but the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award also known as UEFA Best Player In Europe Award.

UEFA Men’s Player Of the year award is given to the player who is considered the best for both club and national team competitions.

Jorginho’s Chances

Out of all the players nominated for the positional awards today, Jorginho has the best Chance to win The UEFA Player of the year award.

Jorginho was very important in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League triumph. He played a very important role for Chelsea last season and was also Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League.

Jorginho continued his good form at the Euro 2020. He converted the penalty that sent Italy to the final of the Euros and was also named in the team of the tournament.

Jorginho also played on Wednesday as Chelsea beat Villarreal to win the UEFA Super Cup.

No other Chelsea player has won the award before.

No Chelsea player have previously won this award before. No player from the Chelsea team that won the 2012 UEFA Champions League won this award. Lampard came second in the Balon d’or award in 2005 and the Balon d’or is different from this award.

The award was revamped in 2011. The award was previously called UEFA Club Footballer Of The Year award.

The first winner was Lionel Mes
